SpinDrive is a Finnish company founded in 2015 by four LUT researchers to bring active magnetic bearing technology into wider industrial use. Today, our engineers, technical specialists and business team work exclusively on AMB systems – from feasibility to field operation – to help industrial OEMs develop more efficient, reliable and maintenance-free machines.
AMB expertise, from design to production
SpinDrive was born from more than 35 years of university research into high-speed machinery, when a market gap emerged for more accessible active magnetic bearing technology.
Today, the company provides complete AMB systems for industrial OEMs, from design and prototyping to serial production. Our expertise covers the entire AMB system, including magnetic bearings, sensors, control technology, commissioning, remote monitoring and field service.
This end-to-end approach means OEMs get one accountable partner – not a chain of subcontractors – dedicated entirely to AMBs. With cost-efficient controllers, an established supply chain and deep relationships with motor manufacturers, AMB is now viable for serial production.

SpinDrive brings together PhDs and specialists in mechanical engineering, AMB control, power electronics, sensor technology, system testing and more. Our core team has co-authored more than 80 scientific publications, and our patent portfolio carries that depth into every project.
But knowledge alone isn’t the whole story. We believe the best results come from working closely with customers, so that our AMB systems fit real-world machines and operating conditions. And we don’t stop there. We continuously explore new ways to make high-speed machinery more efficient, reliable and cost-effective.

Based in Lappeenranta and Helsinki, Finland, SpinDrive serves industrial OEM customers in Europe, the US and Asia, and our team reflects that international outlook. People from different professional and cultural backgrounds bring different ways of thinking to the same challenges.
