They say that when you’re young, you have the freedom to try many things. Success isn’t always the point; it’s about learning from the challenges you face. This perfectly describes one of our colleagues, Gleb Tarasov.
Gleb works as a Mechanical Engineer at SpinDrive. In 2022, he made the bold decision to move to Finland, and in 2023, he joined SpinDrive. Full of energy and determination, Gleb came in with a clear mindset—ready to face whatever came his way. Even though he’s under 30, Gleb brings an undeniable drive and enthusiasm to everything he does, constantly pushing forward not because it’s expected, but because it’s simply who he is.

Unlocking the Secrets of Everyday Mechanisms
From a young age, Gleb had a fascination for how things worked. As a little boy, he would eagerly take apart anything he could get his hands on, curious to discover the hidden mechanisms inside. Whether it was a toy or an old household gadget, he approached each disassembly as an exciting adventure. Reassembling did not always turn out successfully, but that was never the main concern. What mattered most was realizing that curiosity also comes with responsibility—a lesson Gleb carried with him as he continued to learn and grow.
Her encouragement became the foundation for Gleb’s lifelong passion. That same inquisitive boy grew up to channel his fascination into a purpose, pursuing mechanical engineering at university. It was there that his childhood curiosity transformed into a disciplined skill set, laying the groundwork for a future filled with innovation and discovery.
A Boy’s Silent Promise
“Even as a child, Gleb had a sensitivity beyond his years. He noticed the dedication and hard work his family poured into their lives to keep everything running smoothly. Though they carried their responsibilities with grace, Gleb recognized their efforts and wanted to contribute in his own way.”
He took pride in helping around the house and running small errands. These actions weren’t just chores—they were his way of showing gratitude and care. Deep down, Gleb made a promise to himself: one day, he would grow into someone who could fully support and take care of his family.
That promise shaped Gleb into a person with a profound sense of responsibility. It wasn’t just for his family—his upbringing taught him to extend that same care and dedication to others. Today, Gleb’s friends and colleagues see it in the way he steps up when it matters, always ready to support those around him. The boy who once vowed to lighten his mother’s burdens now stands as someone others can rely on, guided by the quiet promise he made long ago.

“For a long time, my girlfriend and I had been considering the idea of trying our luck in another country. We were eager to explore new opportunities and experience life from a different perspective. Some of our friends had already moved to Finland and spoke highly of it, so we planned a visit to see if it could become our new home.
In the summer of 2022, we made the move. What we discovered surprised us in the best way—Finland felt both new and familiar. The weather, the food, and even the culture shared many similarities with what we get used to, creating a sense of comfort amidst the change. We quickly grew fond of the country, and when we found our jobs, it sealed the decision for us,” Says Gleb.
Finland wasn’t just a place to start fresh; it became the place where we could truly settle down and build the life we had been searching for.
From Newcomer to Team Energizer
At work, Gleb is known for his dedication and focus. He approaches every task with seriousness and a strong work ethic, ensuring it’s done to the best of his ability.

In his spare time, Gleb finds joy in a variety of activities that help him unwind and recharge. He loves playing board games with friends, traveling with his family, and staying active with football, volleyball, and table tennis.
“These activities are my way of switching off from work,” Gleb shares. “After a full day of focus and concentration, it’s important to relax and reset. Whether it’s the thrill of a game or quality time with loved ones, these moments keep me balanced and energized for whatever comes next.”

A New Journey at SpinDrive
“One day, I came across a job ad from SpinDrive on LinkedIn,” Gleb recalls. “Curious, I checked out their website to learn more about what they do, and I discovered active magnetic bearings—a completely new field to me. It sounded fascinating, and I was intrigued by the possibilities.”
Inspired by this new area, Gleb decided to apply, and soon after, he was selected to join SpinDrive. “I love my job here,” he says with a smile. “It’s so different from anything I’ve done before, but that’s what makes it exciting. Every day brings new challenges, and I’m thrilled to be part of such an innovative company.”
