Condition monitoring

Condition monitoring
The condition monitoring industry has been booming for some time already. The typical approach is to have a fleet of sensors connected to a hub that sends the measured data for further processing. Evidently, this is an effective way to get an overall picture of what is happening on the factory floor.
When it comes to the operating condition of an individual machine, you must have direct access to the rotating shaft to get to the real data.
SpinDrive’s active magnetic bearings (AMBs) have a built-in feature to collect position data directly from the rotating part of the motor. The rotor position data is accurate to the micrometer level and can be sampled at very high frequencies. Only sky is the limit when it comes to using this data, from optimizing performance and efficiency to supporting maintenance planning, extending the operating range and predicting sudden failures.
